Citizens' Committee for Children of New York Inc. (CCC) is a 64 year-old non-profit, child advocacy organization that works to improve the quality of life for New York City children. CCC's work environment is dynamic and fast-paced. Our unique approach to research, community education, and advocacy is fact-based and relies upon a partnership between Board and Advocacy Council members and our professional staff.
We seek a full time Associate Executive Director of Program and Public Affairs.
Responsibilities:
* Developing with Board of Directors and staff, CCC's program and policy priorities and annual strategic action plan (or workplan) that ties together all program and public affairs functions of the organization.
* Managing program and public affairs staffs that are responsible for policy research, budget and legislative analysis, and government and public relations functions of the organization.
* Program management responsibilities include: overseeing and guiding content development including scope of research projects, literature reviews, survey development, data collection and analysis, and development of findings and recommendations undertaken by program staff.
* Public Affairs management responsibilities include: overseeing and guiding advocacy and public education activities targeted to New Yorkers, state and local elected and appointed officials, as well as issue-based coalitions/networks undertaken by public affairs staff.
* Organizing and overseeing the strategic use of data to inform product development including: policy reports, e-action campaigns, newsletters, testimony; budget and legislative analysis and advocacy materials, correspondence with city and state officials, and press releases.
* Staffing quarterly meetings of the program and public affairs committees of the Board of Directors to report on status of program and public affairs work (including but not limited to research, advocacy and public education activities, work plan development and evaluation).
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Highly motivated self-starter with capacity to multi-task in a fast paced work environment.
* Solid knowledge of state and local government (budgetary and legislative process, as well as policy, programs and funding structures).
* Strong interpersonal, writing and communications skills.
* Experienced professional with a track record of policy, budgetary or legislative successes.
Education:
* Master's Degree or equivalent in related field of public policy, law or urban planning.
Experience:
Requires minimum of seven years of related and/or applicable experience. Must have knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to child and family issues. Must reside in New York City
