City Limits readers who want to learn more about George Romney's interest in urban affairs and more about the Action Center concept can read Sara Fitzgerald's biography of Ms. Peterson. Geoffrey Kabaservice's "Rule and Ruin: The Downfall of Moderation and the Destruction of the Republican Party, From Eisenhower to the Tea Party" (2012) includes a discussion of George Romney's urban tour in the fall of 1967 that was a lead-up to his ill-fated 1968 presidential campaign. Kabaservice, too, mentions the Detroit Action Center and an attempt in Newark that predated the MI effort.
