Alexander Brash
Alexander Brash represents the nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association as the Northeast Regional Director. Since 1919, NPCA has been the leading voice of the American people in protecting and enhancing our National Park System with over 340,000 members. Before joining NPCA, Alex served with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. During his time there, he was the Director of the Management Planning Division; Chief of the Urban Park Service (the Agency’s Rangers); and finally the Chief of the Natural Resources Group. In these capacities, he was responsible for overseeing nearly $92M of environmental restoration projects, acquiring parkland for preservation and habitat restoration, and for formulating the Agency’s environmental policies. While Chief of the Urban Park Service, Alex supervised the 300 full-time and 250 seasonal park rangers patrolling 1580 park sites covering over 28,000 acres. During his tenure he conceived of and initiated reverse privatization in order to broaden the revenue stream, supervised scores of huge special events and concerts in the City’s parks, and personally led its efforts at Ground Zero on 9/11.
