Susanna Blankley and Lindsay Cattell

Susanna Blankley is the Director of Housing Organizing at Community Action for Safe Apartments (CASA), a project of New Settlement Apartments, in the Southwest Bronx. CASA seeks to improve the living conditions in the Bronx and maintain affordable housing through collective action. Susanna began her organizing work as a Labor Organizer with UNITE HERE in Puerto Rico, and has been organizing for safe and affordable housing in New York City since 2009. Before organizing, Susanna worked to advance Women’s Rights in Ecuador, New York City and Kenya.

Lindsay Cattell has worked on participatory action research projects on issues like public housing, public health, education policy, zoning issues and workers’ rights. She has authored several reports, including “A People’s Budget: A Research and Evaluation Report on the Pilot Year of Participatory Budgeting in New York City,” and “Reimagining Rezoning: A Chinatown for Residents in a Chinatown for All.” Lindsay also worked on developing the Community Development Project’s Research for Organizing Toolkit, which includes trainings, tools and tips for conducting participatory action research.
