Jarrett Murphy

Jarrett Murphy, executive editor and publisher, has been with City Limits since February 2007. Murphy grew up in New Britain, Connecticut, graduated from Fordham University in the Bronx, and later received a diploma in public financial policy from the London School of Economics and a masters in economics from the New School. Before coming to City Limits in February 2007, he worked at WFUV-FM, the Hartford Advocate, CBSNews.com and the Village Voice. He has been awarded the 2007 James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism, the 2007 PASS Award from the National Council on Crime and Delinquency and the Deadline Club's 2011 award for best coverage of issues affecting minority groups; he has twice been a finalist for the Livingston Award. Murphy has boxed in the Golden Gloves, plays with a Bronx-Yonkers rugby team, serves as an assistant Little League coach and is the bass player/vocalist for Fort Indy, a blues-funk band. He lives in the Norwood section of the Bronx with his wife and two sons.
