On November 17th, international human rights activists visited the High School for Public Service in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, to launch the city's first pilot of the Speak Truth to Power curriculum, developed by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights in Washington, D.C. Community service and activism are core values at HSPS, where students complete 10,000 community-service hours each year.
The Speak Truth to Power curriculum introduces students to the concept of human rights and tells the stories of human rights heroes around the world, with the aim of inspiring students to become advocates for their rights and those of others.
