Since its inception, the New York City Fire Department has lost more than 1,000 members—at infamous incidents like September 11 and forgotten tragedies in fifth-floor apartments, house basements and industrial buildings. As City Limits publishes its investigation into the causes of firefighter deaths from 1991 to 2011, here are some of the people and places that remind us of these losses.
