Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. made headlines early in his tenure by leading an effort to force a development deal for the Kingsbridge Armory to include wage guarantees for workers on the site; the dispute ended up torpedoing the project. Diaz has been touted as a potential contender for citywide office, but recently said he would not seek the post of public advocate in 2013.
