School-uniform-clad students, some sporting hoodies and spangly pink headscarves, waited for the program to begin in the HSPS music room, where the school's choir, including Danisha Weir, sang "Freedom is Coming" to welcome the RFK Defenders.
After speaking with individual Defenders, many students said they were impressed with meeting "real" activists. "I personally won't forget it," said 12th-grader Latisha Blackburn, who aims to become a social worker or school-guidance counselor. "Everyone seemed amazed at the changes they made."
