The Wild Garden: Discovering Central Park's Woodlands

Presented by Central Park - Charles A. Dana Discovery Center


The Central Park Conservancy presents a new, interactive exhibit on the Park's woodlands celebrating and educating the public about the creation, restoration and maintenance of Central Park's woodland landscapes. 'The Wild Garden: Discovering Central Park's Woodlands,' gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the woodlands' history, creation and maintenance as well as resources to encourage children to explore and discover the landscapes with their families. 'The Wild Garden' features the Park's three woodlands landscapes - the North Woods, the Ramble and the Hallett Nature Sanctuary - along with an interactive installation that introduces visitors to explore the purpose, rich history, ecology and the Conservancy's efforts to restore and maintain this unique and fragile environment.

The Gazillion Bubble Show

Presented by New World Stages


Over the past two decades, Fan Yang has explored the fragile and mysterious world of soap bubbles and emerged with a completely new medium, blending art and science to dazzle audiences around the globe. He holds (and has broken his own) Guinness World records for the biggest bubble ever blown, the largest bubble wall ever created (156 feet), most bubbles within a bubble, and in May 2006, was able to encapsulate 22 people inside a single soap bubble on live television in Madrid. 'Gazillion Bubble Show' is the first and only interactive stage production of its kind, complete with fantastic light effects, lasers and jaw-dropping masterpieces of bubble artistry.

Presented by Central Park - Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater


'Pippi' is a fresh retelling of the classic 'Pippi Longstocking' tales by Astrid Lindgren, adapted for the stage by Zakiyyah Alexander. The production features nearly two dozen, hand-made marionettes crafted by the expert puppeteers from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre. Kids and families will enjoy the adventures of quick-witted and super-strong Pippi as she overcomes bullies and burglars, all while fending off social conventions that threaten to prevent her friends from being creative. 'Pippi' is directed by Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre's Artistic Director Bruce Cannon, with original set design by Kevin Roach and a score from Darryl Kojak.
