CATHEDRAL OF ST. JOHN THE DIVINE PRESENTS CATHEDRAL CHRISTMAS CONCERT: A CEREMONY OF CAROLS ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8th
Presented by Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine
Celebrate the holidays with a concert of festive carols and seasonal music. The beloved annual Cathedral Christmas Concert, this year titled A Ceremony of Carols, will feature the Cathedral’s Choirs and Orchestra on Saturday, December 8th at 7:30 PM at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.
The Cathedral Choirs will join forces under the direction of Kent Tritle, Director of Cathedral Music and Malcolm Merriweather, Choral Associate at the Cathedral, to perform beloved Christmas favorites including Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, featuring the voices of the Cathedral Trebles; Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols; Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzona and Angelus ad pastores ait, featuring the Cathedral Brass; Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium; and Franz Biebl’s Ave Maria.
Featured artists include Michele Kennedy, soprano; Amanda Sidebottom, soprano; and Gregory Purnhagen, baritone.
