Creative Outlet Dance Theatre’s “Urban Roots,” with Opening Act Courtney Giannone performing “Protean Acts”Presented by The BEAT Festival
As part of the BEAT Festival (Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater), Jamel Gaines’ Creative Outlet Dance Theatre performs “Urban Roots.” One of Brooklyn’s favorite dance companies, Creative Outlet merges rigorous classical and modern technique with African-American soul and spirit. Courtney Giannone will perform an opening act, “Protean Acts.” Courtney’s breathtaking choreographic productions have been performed nationally and internationally, and merge several modalities of art including: modern dance, cyr wheel, acrobatics, video projection, and music.
As part of the BEAT Festival (Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater), Theatre Group Dzieci performs “Makbet.” One of the borough’s true treasures, Dzieci’s ensemble might be the finest corps of actors you’ve (n)ever seen. Dzieci shows off its extraordinary range and appetite for daring and inventive work, and seeks to touch the sacred source of performance while exploring wildly contemporary forms of theater.
As part of the BEAT Festival (Brooklyn Emerging Artists in Theater), this closing night event at El Puente in Williamsburg will feature a selection of performances from BEAT artists and a few very special guests. El Puente is the very spot where BEAT performer and world-renowned performing artist Lemon Andersen attended his first open mic and performed his first poem.
