The Beacon Center for Arts & Leadership Community Programs Manager is responsible for supervising our evening and Saturday community programming. Programs range from adult aerobics to our educational childcare component Little Leaders. The Community Programs Manager ensures that the adults and youth in the community receive high quality services consistent with the mission of the Beacon Center for Arts & Leadership.
•Act as the initial point of support for all evening staff: Aerobics Program, Fitness Room, ESL Instructors, Little Leaders Teachers, Volunteers and all Co-locators
•Oversee all evening and Saturday Programming
•Act as a liaison between the evening and daytime programming
•Facilitate walk-through during evening programming as the floor manager
•Provide information to community members about upcoming events
•In charge of assisting in the development of all promotional materials
•Collect activity rosters and ensure that all attendances have been turned in
•Ensure that all students have completed applications and assist those that do not
•Communicate changes in programming to staff members and participants
•Plan and organize community advisory board events for participants
•Communicate with school safety to ensure they are posted near activities
•Communicate with daytime school entities to coordinate the use of space
•Increase parent participation by actively recruiting in the community, working with co-locators and identifying new service providers that are interested in utilizing the Beacon for drop-in workshops
•Meet with evening staff regularly and provide them with supervision
•Ensure that equipment is checked out, set up and returned properly
•Maintain radio contact with evening staff
•Draft incident reports when necessary
•Ensure that all children are returned to their parents and/or guardian
•Conduct outreach to local CBO’s to build a resource network
•Attend supervision meetings and trainings as assigned
•Other responsibilities as assigned by program director
Minimum two years of experience working in a supervisory capacity. Fluently bilingual in Spanish is necessary to communicate with community constituents. The schedule requires working evenings and Saturdays. Experience working in a community center setting ideal. Bachelor’s and Master’s level candidates are encouraged to apply.
