NOT-FOR-PROFIT SEEKS A PROGRAM DIRECTOR: Founded in 1975, Urban Pathways provides homeless New Yorkers with the services and assistance necessary to become stable, develop their ability to live independently and move into housing, ultimately benefiting from the pride and security that comes with having a home. We are currently seeking a Program Director for our Ivan Shapiro House Program and 53rd Street Apartments Scattered Site Program.
Ivan Shapiro House (ISH) is one of the first CR/SRO residences in NYC created specifically for the formerly homeless, mentally ill population. Opened in 1997 and home to 55 women and men, ISH is funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH ) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and offers a full array of rehabilitative, treatment, vocational, support, and self-help services to its residents.
53rd Street Apartments Scattered Site Program, located in Midtown West is a 13 unit permanent, affordable housing apartment building for low income, formerly homeless adults.
The Program Director is responsible for the oversight of administrative, clinical and facilities management operations of the residence and ensuring the provision of quality care to tenants. He/She also manages program services, improves existing services and develops new treatment components to meet the needs of the residents. In addition, the Program Director interfaces with outside agencies for ongoing development of all aspects of programming and ensures that the facility complies with government, funding agency regulations and internal policies and procedures. Additionally, the Program Director is also responsible for supervision of all staff and staff development within the program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field required. Five years experience working with mentally ill/MICA adult population including supervisory and administrative experience. Experience working in an SRO or any residential program setting. Familiarity with OMH regulations and low-income tax credits highly preferred.
