Childcare Improvement Project Business Development
Location: 50 East 168th Street, Bronx, NY 10452
Reports to: Director of CIP Training and Development
The Business Development Trainer will provide training geared to the development and/or expansion of a childcare microenterprise business. The Trainer will be responsible for conducting weekly/monthly training courses, researching and maintaining up-to-date understanding of government regulations. Working directly with the Childcare Training Team, the Business Development Trainer will assist in the training and professional development of informal childcare providers and provide support for transition to become license providers. The Training Team will collaboratively manage the technical assistance and home visits to ensure informal childcare providers reach required health and safety requirements and establish a professional, licensed childcare business.
•Conduct orientation sessions
•Prep and conduct trainings (marketing, accounting, business planning, QuickBooks etc.)
•Manage case load of clients requesting business development skills
•Track and maintain up-to-date files on each provider
•Conduct home visits to guide and encourage implementation of business skills
•Provide business resources to promote business structure and growth
•Translate documents into Spanish when needed
•Make referrals to Technical Assistance Department and other WHEDco resources
•Additional responsibilities as assigned by Associate Director of Childcare Provider Training & Development
•BA Required – Business Administration / Business Management highly desirable
•Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) highly desirable
•Background in small and/or micro-enterprise business development
•Familiarity with home-based childcare provider population
•Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Research, QuickBooks, etc.
•Demonstrated training/teaching experience
•Strong communication skills
•Excellent, proven organizational ability and outstanding attention to detail
•Creative problem solving skills
•Demonstrated leadership skills
•Ability and willingness to interact with a diverse group of people and establish positive and healthy working relationships
