JOB DESCRIPITION The New York City Human Resources Administration / General Support Services (GSS) is recruiting for one (1) Administrative Architect, M-III/Executive Director in its Facilities Operations (FO), Bureau of Space and Design (BSD). This position is critical to the maintenance of more than 100 HRA occupied buildings with over 6 million square feet of space. The on-going needs of the Agency as well as critical new social service initiatives require continuous management of space-related functions, provision of necessary furniture and equipment, and proper scheduling, monitoring, and reporting of needed facilities work.
The Executive Director will: · Manage two divisions consisting of both technical and professional staff in the Division of Architecture and Engineering and the Division of Property Management. · Manage professional engineers/architects through the preparation and development of specifications for construction, alterations, rehabilitation, and repair/maintenance of HRA buildings. · Coordinate the design and redesign of all building systems, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and fire prevention. · May sign and seal architectural and other official documents requiring filing with regulatory agencies. · Provide overall management and coordination of space management activities, including planning, allocation, space design and acquisition of space; and design related to modular furniture, ordering and installation. · Oversee assessments of space needs and ensure effective utilization of existing space through proper allocation and timely, orderly relocation of programs when needed. · Oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and standards that apply to planning new/existing space in conjunction with modular furniture design/installation, while ensuring suitability for Agency needs and compliance with regulatory codes and external oversight requirements. · Maintains high-level contacts with outside offices affected by or involved in space planning efforts, including external Agencies. · Ensures proper allocation, organization, and scheduling of resources to obtain maximum performance results within given constraints.
PREFERRED SKILLS · Knowledge of HRA Space Portfolio
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS A valid New York State Registration as an Architect is required. In addition, candidates must have six (6) years of full-time paid experience in architectural work, at least two (2) years of which shall have been as an administrative architect.
