The Association for Neighborhood & Housing Development (ANHD) - a member association of neighborhood-based affordable housing groups and one of NYC's leading policy/advocacy organizations - seeks a Campaign Organizer to work on our campaign to win new land use policies for affordable housing and equitable economic development.
The Campaign Organizer will have key responsibility for educating, engaging, and mobilizing ANHD member organizations and other citywide allies in a campaign to make New York City’s land use policy better serve the affordable housing and economic development needs of low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, including:
•Coordinate a coalition to win creation and implementation of a new Guaranteed Inclusionary Zoning policy so that affordable housing is a required part of all major rezonings. The Campaign Organizer will work with local community groups and community boards so this new zoning policy is fully implemented both citywide and at the local level.
• Engage ANHD member groups and allied organizations on land use policy issues to support more equitable economic development and economic justice. This includes developing advocacy strategy and building grassroots support for land-use policy to protect and strengthen quality light-manufacturing and industrial jobs.
A minimum of three years of professional experience in community organizing or advocacy working on or leading a campaign related to affordable housing, economic justice or community development.
College degree or higher or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of city government structure, and land-use and zoning process.
Commitment to New York City’s neighborhoods and respect for community organizing and grassroots organizations.
