The Campaign Organizer organizes, supports and mobilizes residents in homeless shelters, formerly-homeless New Yorkers, and allied community-based organizations for Coalition for the Homeless' advocacy campaigns and events, in particular those focused on securing housing-based homeless policies at the City and State level. The Campaign Organizer identifies and trains shelter resident leaders for public speaking and organizing activities. In cooperation with the Senior Policy Analyst, Deputy Executive Director for Policy, and Advocacy Department staff, the Campaign Organizer facilitates meetings, liaises with other community organizations and implements campaign strategies to address homelessness. Likewise, the Campaign Organizer performs all job duties consistent with the mission and goals of the Coalition for the Homeless and any relevant funding agreements.
BA preferred. At least three years of organizing experience required and experience with supportive housing programs and services for the homeless strongly preferred. Ability to work with diverse populations and handle multiple tasks is essential. Good writing skills, computer literacy and valid driver's license required. Spanish language proficiency preferred.
REPORTS TO: Senior Policy Analyst or designee SALARY: $36K-40K commensurate with experience and education
