About the Position:

The New York market VP leads a market team with a track record for innovation and impact in affordable housing and community development. From the beginning, Enterprise New York has partnered with the City and State of New York, funders, developers and community leaders to create and preserve affordable housing and promote community revitalization city wide. The New York Market VP will lead Enterprise's efforts to strengthen the affordable housing delivery system, create and preserve affordable housing, and advance public policies that address affordable housing and community revitalization needs.

The Vice President sets the strategic direction for the New York program, building on the priorities established in Enterprise's national strategic plan. As the senior New York-facing staff, the VP develops and manages high level relationships with the City, the State, corporate and financial institutions, foundations, developers and another partners. S/he supervises a 25 person market team and works closely with other Enterprise staff across all business lines to bring all Enterprise resources to bear in the local market. The successful candidate will be passionate about Enterprise's mission as well as creative, energetic and motivated to aggressively and strategically grow Enterprise's New York program. The position reports to the Solutions VP.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee Enterprise New York’s successful program portfolio, which includes efforts to preserve at risk affordable housing projects and owners through financing, technical assistance and support for energy improvements; provide comprehensive financing for new housing and community projects; expand housing opportunities for homeless families; and increase the disaster-preparedness of neighborhood-based organizations and support a more resilient civic infrastructure in highly vulnerable, low-income neighborhoods in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.


• Oversee Enterprise New York’s successful program portfolio, which includes efforts to preserve at risk affordable housing projects and owners through financing, technical assistance and support for energy improvements; provide comprehensive financing for new housing and community projects; expand housing opportunities for homeless families; and increase the disaster-preparedness of neighborhood-based organizations and support a more resilient civic infrastructure in highly vulnerable, low-income neighborhoods in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.


• Identify and develop innovative programs and capital resources to address local needs and grow Enterprise’s presence throughout the New York market, in a manner consistent with Enterprise’s mission and strategic plan.


• Actively collaborate with Enterprise national program staff and product lines to identify new program and product opportunities that advance Enterprise’s strategic goals.


• Act as the primary relationship manager for local and state government partners in the market.


• Coordinate the activities of the Enterprise New York Advisory Board and New York Community Advisory Board including working with both boards to identify and recruit new members.


• Cultivate funders, and secure and manage the capital and philanthropic resources needed to support and expand the New York program, in coordination with a dedicated fundraising team including a Senior Director of Development from Enterprise’s Resource Development group and product line colleagues.


• Coordinate with national Enterprise colleagues to pursue media and communications opportunities that generate visibility.


• Support the achievement of Enterprise’s public policy goals in the market.


• Oversee diverse and talented staff, including completion of work plans, evaluation processes and support for professional development.


• Actively engage with market and initiative leader colleagues independently and as part the organization’s market and program leadership team.


• Manage $6+ million budget for the market, including completion of annual plans and budgets.


• Serve as a spokesperson for the office, both internally and externally.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of ten years of experience in relevant community development, public policy, government, banking and finance, nonprofit, or real estate development experience.


• Familiarity with federal, state and local housing and community development programs, and private resources available for community development, and working knowledge of local and state-wide housing markets and conditions.


• Experience in the low-income affordable housing sector and understanding of multifamily rental housing development is highly desired.


• Undergraduate degree required. Master’s degree in business, public policy, economics, urban planning or real estate is strongly desired.


• Demonstrated ability to effectively market all of Enterprise’s products, programs and activities to potential customers.


• Proven ability to lead and manage staff members through effective planning and organizing, decision making, motivating, supervising and evaluating.


• Demonstrated track record of fundraising and efficient use of financial resources.


• Ability to work effectively in a diversity-based environment with a wide range of community-based organizations and low-income persons, public officials, private sector lenders and community leaders in a team-based approach.


• Demonstrated ability to lead program development and implementation, manage multiple projects and assignments, meet tight deadlines, coordinate and communicate effectively among widely-dispersed parties and cultivate new relationships.


• Experience working with nonprofit boards of directors.
