Housing Placement Specialist
AIDS Center of Queens County
ACQC, a leader in providing services to individuals with HIV/AIDS is seeking a Housing Placement Specialist to locate and secure suitable housing with appropriate lease terms for clients of ACQC. Working together to connect to medical care and other needs, and collaborate with other team members to ensure that clients remain stably housed in apartments that meet health and safety standards. Housing Specialist must meet specific monthly housing placement targets.
•Develop and maintain relationships with prospective landlords, brokers, and management companies.
•Make home visits and escort clients.
•Collect and submit all necessary documents.
•Assist clients with move-in and utility connections.
•Make a appropriate referrals when clients need additional supports.
•Provide independent living skills and housing readiness counseling for clients.
•Enter all appropriate housing data in computerized reporting system
•Bachelor’s Degree with at least 2 years related housing/case management experience.
•Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, addictions, homelessness and mental health.
•Sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and gender orientation differences.
This position is based in Jamaica and Far Rockaway, Queens.
Salary: $36,000 per annum
