Director, Home-Based Childcare Training Institute
Location: 50 East 168th Street, Bronx, New York 10452
Reports to: Executive Vice President
WHEDco's Home-Based Childcare Training Institute works to ensure that participant childcare providers are successful in: completing a licensing/registration process, engaging in on-going professional development, building critical business skills and quality childcare programs and establishing lucrative home-based childcare businesses.
The Director of Home-Based Childcare Training Institute will manage WHEDco's microenterprise business development and early care and education efforts within the organization's Home-Based Childcare Program. Responsible for managing a team of trainers, technical assistance specialists and administrative staff, the Director maintains and builds relationships with partners, including government agencies and key stakeholders, and ensures program outcomes are achieved.
•Act as resident expert on all areas pertaining to home-based childcare, including all state and local regulations
•Manage a team of NYS credentialed trainers and technical assistance specialists
•Manage the day-to-day operations of the Home-Based Childcare Training Institute
•Develop and modify curriculum as needed
•Troubleshoot issues and develop procedural guidelines to ensure program success
•Lead staff professional development training
•Identify opportunities in staff workflow and implement strategies for improvement
•Evaluate program outcomes and create additional programming around client needs
•Establish connections across WHEDco’s departments to best serve clients
•Review and conduct random checks of WHEDco’s Client Tracking System database to ensure accuracy
•Maintain relationships with key donors and stakeholders
•BA required, Masters-level degree desirable
•Demonstrated expertise in the fields of Early Childhood Education and Child Development
•A minimum of 2 years of experience in microenterprise business development
•A minimum of 5 years of management experience
•Bilingual (Spanish/English) desirable
•Excellent organizational ability and outstanding attention to detail
•Creative problem-solving skills
•Ability and willingness to interact with a diverse group of people and establish positive and healthy working relationships
•Appropriate NYS Childcare training accreditation desirable
•Passion for WHEDco’s mission
