New York City Administration for Children's Services (ACS) is a premier children's services agency dedicated to ensuring the safety of NYC's 1.8 million children and strengthening its families.

ACS is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of Deputy Commissioner (D/C) for the Division of Child Protection (DCP), to be a part of an agency dedicated to strengthening NYC's families and ensuring the safety of NYC's 1.9 million children. The D/C of DCP will be responsible for the effective operation of NYC's Child Protective Services that investigates approximately 60,000 reports of abuse and neglect involving over 90,000 children. With wide latitude to exercise independent action and decision- making, the D/C must possess strong managerial, analytical and leadership skills.

The selected candidate will administer a range of child welfare services and programs. Specific duties will include: · Oversee the effective operation of Child Protective Services Borough Field Offices and Emergency Children Services responsible for the investigation of abuse and neglect in accordance with federal, state and city laws, regulations, policies and procedures. · Manage the effective implementation of major child welfare reform initiatives aimed at improving child welfare outcomes for families and children. · Collaborate with internal and external partners to implement agency policy initiatives in various areas, including. · Neighborhood based services, domestic violence, mental illness including various levels of abuse, as well as immigration and language issues. · Work with labor unions, various community stakeholders, and contracted service providers to implement quality of services programs that meet the needs of families, youth and children. · Ensure that the program areas are sufficiently staffed, equipped, trained and capable of carrying out mandated responsibilities. · Coordinate activities with other Divisions within the organization to ensure effective program operations. · Guide the development and implementation of technology to document information and produce management reports. · Partner with the Family Court to protect children effectively. · Use data and risk assessment tools to manage staff making safety decisions. · Implement supports to staff that promote resiliency, self-care and the reduction of secondary trauma.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Ideal candidates must possess a graduate degree as well as have a proven track record in managing a large scale urban child welfare system or child protection system and experience in managing a governmental or direct service organization with proven ability to build coalitions and partnerships both internally and externally. Experience working in an interdisciplinary team model (e.g., social work/attorney team); excellent written and communications skills is a plus. Familiarity with NYC’s diverse communities; or bilingual ability in Spanish or other language(s) is a plus. SALARY RANGE is $89,988 - $203,566.
