The CUNY IT Specialists Internship Program provides paid IT interns to approximately 14 New York City government agencies, including a large portion to New York City Department of Education schools. The program provides CUNY students who have technology skills with real-life work experience and at the same time helps the City's IT departments meet their technology goals. Through the program, about 500 students are employed each year in paid internship positions. The program is seeking a self-motivated, organized, and customer service-oriented project associate to provide overall support to the project, mainly that portion of the project that works with the Department of Education.
Reporting to the project director, the project associate will assist in carrying out most of the program’s day-to-day activities, including but not limited to the below:
--Hiring and Personnel Actions: pre-screen candidates; place candidates at appropriate sites; coordinate new hire process, ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations and adequate orientation to all program policies; issue disciplinary actions as needed and provide guidance to interns.
--Payroll: coordinate the submission of intern timesheets; track intern time worked against budget projections.
--Data Tracking and Reporting: data entry, ensuring accuracy and integrity of all project data; maintain file system; generate required budgets, reports, and other documentation.
--Interfacing with Interns, Agency Staff, and RF CUNY Staff: provide customer service to all project participants; troubleshoot situations as they arise.
--Marketing And Recruiting: attend college career fairs; support upkeep of social media sites.
--Other duties as assigned.
--Associate’s Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
--Two+ years experience in admissions, human resources, student development, workforce development, staffing or another relevant field.
--Very detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
--Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to working.
--Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse populations in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment.
--Ability to exercise sound judgment and think on ones feet to quickly analyze and solve problems.
--Expert user of all MS Office products, Excel in particular, and aptitude to quickly pick up new systems.
--Knowledge of any of the following a plus: the CUNY system, the Department of Education, NYC geography, or IT concepts.
