NYC Council Member- Brooklyn
The Council Member is seeking a Constituent Liaison to serve as a representative to the residents of 36th Council District. The prospective staff member must be committed to seeking out the most effective ways for the office to connect with, and deliver for, the constituents of Bedford Stuyvesant and northern Crown Heights. The Constituent Liaison will be responsible for responding to constituent requests for assistance and tracking and prioritizing issues in order to resolve their concerns.
Address constituent concerns and district needs via telephone, email, mail and in person; Log in all requests into Council Stat and maintain up-to-date files by entering progress notes and outcomes on assigned cases; Determine appropriate course of action and address issue(s) with relevant agencies; Continually screen active cases to ensure they are handled in a responsive manner; Screen and refer cases, when appropriate, to the Chief of Staff or when appropriate to the offices of other elected officials; Assess work for problems requiring legislative action; Serve as a representative for the Council Member at community events/meetings; Maintain up-to-date contact information of local agencies important to the office; Prepare monthly reports on pending cases and district activities; and Work a flexible schedule, sometimes including long hours, nights and weekends.
A Bachelor’s Degree with two-years of relevant work experience (e.g. social service, government, customer service) OR High Diploma/GED with 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
