Research, Policy and Evaluation Assistant
Location: Urban Horizons Reports to: Director of Research, Policy and Evaluation
WHEDco's Research, Policy and Evaluation Department provides research support for WHEDco's work, including exploring trends in our programs and in our community to: support the organization's efforts in innovative and responsive program design, determining the impacts WHEDco's programs have on participants and the community, and providing data and information for key stakeholders. The Research, Policy and Evaluation Assistant will work with the Director of the Research, Policy and Evaluation department to collect, maintain, and provide data for reports and data requests, maintain the integrity of WHEDco's database and support database users, and assist with quantitative and qualitative research projects.
•Organize and maintain data within various databases, spreadsheets, and other formats
•Assist with data entry as necessary across programs
•Create innovative ways of integrating data from various formats to support research structure
•Collaborate with departments to improve data collection and assessment practices ranging from checks-for-understanding to data management and tools for analysis
•Prepare data for quantitative analysis
•Assist with presenting data in visually engaging, thorough, and innovative reports
•Assist with quantitative and qualitative research projects
•Bachelor-level degree, or equivalent experience
•High level of computer proficiency oAdvanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access skills required oAbility to quickly learn internal relational database oFamiliarity with GIS and either SPSS, SAS, or Stata preferred
•Comfortable working with large data sets and data systems
•Must be able to multi-task and handle multiple data and tracking systems
•Detail-oriented, with high standards of performance, including ability to accurately obtain, clean, and maintain data
•Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research
•Strong time management and organizational skills with proven ability to complete work in a timely fashion
•Demonstrated ability to work alone/independently and as part of a team
•Willingness to learn, develop skills, and build knowledge on WHEDco’s work
•Commitment to social justice and WHEDco’s mission
•Bilingual abilities highly desirable; Spanish language skills especially helpful
