The IT Specialists Internship Program provides currently enrolled CUNY students majoring in computer science and related disciplines, including business and GIS, with paid internship opportunities at New York City government agencies. The Program gives CUNY students who have technology skills with real-life work experience and at the same time helps the City's IT departments meet their technology goals. One of the largest host sites for interns is the Human Resource Administration (HRA), where approximately 100+ interns are employed each year. The Program is seeking a self-motivated, customer service-oriented individual with excellent project management and financial management skills to work in partnership with HRA on managing all aspects of the program.
Under the supervision of the Director, the Project Director will manage the daily operations of the HRA Program, including performing the following tasks:
--Oversee recruitment, including building and maintaining strong relations with CUNY campus career centers, faculty, and senior administrators, and contributing to social media presence;
--Coordinate intern intake, providing coaching on resume writing and interviewing, and general career development;
--Process intern hires, ensuring compliance with all state and federal labor laws;
--Supervise and evaluate intern performance and enforce, monitor, and implement personnel policies and procedures;
--Ensure accurate processing of payroll and produce bi-weekly payroll summary reports;
--Manage data systems and maintain accurate project data;
--Manage the budget, ensuring that all funder requirements are adhered to;
--Work closely with Program Manager at HRA regarding program policies and budget matters, and meet with HRA as needed;
--Manage technical training classes, including coordinating the budget; recruitment and registration; logistics; hiring and supervising instructors; and overseeing curriculum;
--Carry out other related responsibilities, as deemed necessary.
--Bachelor’ degree required.
--5+ years of experience in project management, workforce development, staffing, human resource student affairs, sales, marketing, or operations, or other related areas;
--Strong Excel skills and experience with overseeing a budget;
--Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously;
--Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach to working;
--Demonstrated ability and willingness to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision;
--Ability to think on ones feet and quickly analyze and solve problems;
--Proven ability to work with diverse populations;
--An overall work style that reflects confidence, integrity, initiative, flexibility, and good judgment;
--Familiarity with and knowledge of computing and IT concepts and terminology and/or the IT workforce a significant plus.
