NYC Independent Budget Office
The Independent Budget Office (IBO) is seeking an experienced economistwith a keen interest in public policy to join our economics and taxes section. Candidates with a background in public finance, tax policy analysis, a thorough understanding of the New York City economy and/or detailed knowledge of the financial sectorare strongly preferred. Ongoing responsibilities includequantitative research on economics and taxes,forecasting business tax revenue, and tracking New York City's economy along with the evolving structure of the city's financial sector.A Ph.D. in Economics or related field is preferred; equivalent work experience may substitute.Experience in an applied research organization and writing for a policy-oriented audience a plus.
Candidates should be detail-oriented andable to demonstrate skills inquantitative research and policy analysis. Commitment to impartial and independent research is essential. Must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment, juggling multiple tasks, and interacting with a variety of stakeholders on relevant city issues. Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines is critical.
Salary range: $70,000-$102,000, depending upon experience. EOE. New York City residency is required for candidates with less than two years of city service.
