Assistant Director for Field Education-Garden City Campus Adelphi School of Social Work
Adelphi University, founded in 1895, is a private university with over 7500 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. Adelphi University School of Social Work seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Director for Field Education-Garden City Campus, a 12-month administrative appointment.
Reporting to the Director of Field Education, this leadership position is responsible for the day-to- day administration of the field education department for both the B.S.W. and M.S.W. programs on the Garden City Campus, and for the coordination with the administrators responsible for field education at the Manhattan, Hauppauge, and Hudson Valley Extension Centers. The Assistant Director will be familiar with human service and not-for-profit agencies within the New York Tri- State area and is responsible for the development and evaluation of new and existing field agencies. Additional responsibilities include the training, supervision and evaluation of adjunct faculty field liaisons and placement planning with non- traditional and traditional student populations.
The successful candidate will be strongly identified with the purposes and values of the social work profession. The Assistant Director will have an M.S.W. degree and be licensed (LMSW or LCSW) in New York State with a minimum of six years post-master’s practice, supervisory, and management experience. The candidate will have demonstrated strong administrative, organizational, written and verbal communication skills as well as computer competencies, e.g. Word, Excel, etc. Knowledge of social work education and experience in a college or university setting preferred. The Assistant Director will be expected to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff and to engage meaningfully with established and prospective field agency settings.
