Housing Court Answers, Inc.
Housing Court Answers is seeking an executive director to provide strategic, managerial and operational leadership.
Responsibilities include working closely with the Board of Directors to implement on-going programs and to develop strategic plans for future programs; supervising the HCA’s programs including the Housing Court Information Table Project and telephone information/referral hotline; work with assistant director in supervising a staff of five borough-based Coordinators, additional support staff and volunteers; preparing administrative, legal, and fiscal reports and statistics as needed; maintaining contact with government (State & City) and private funding sources and filing reports as contractually required; fund-raising and grant- writing; promoting activities consistent with the organizational mission of the Housing Court Answers to provide pro-se litigants access to justice in NYC’s Housing Court, promote court reforms that address the need for balanced, fairer procedures that prevent homelessness and evictions and increase the enforcement of housing maintenance codes.
Candidates must have supervisory and administrative experience; excellent grant-writing and fund-raising skills; knowledge of local and state politics surrounding housing issues; experience with government contracting; knowledge of employment law and HR skills; proficiency in Excel and Quickbooks; experience in board development and program planning; ability to organize around policy issues, preferably housing, court reform, eviction prevention or related areas.
