We are looking for somebody who speaks fluent web code. When you hear "full stack", you don't think pancakes (mmm, pancakes), you think MySQL to CSS and everything in between.
Although you speak HTML, CSS and all the rest, you also are comfortable with fellow humans - you are personable, smart and can grok what people need, which is not always what they're asking for.
Be the web person here at Transportation Alternatives, breathing digital life into our campaigns, programs, events and people. Forge new technical directions on cool projects that advance our mission. Get your elbows dirty in code and tools.
* Grow and care for our websites, and build some snazzy new ones.
* Develop web tools and solutions to help our staff make change on the streets of NYC
* Research new web technologies that will take us into the future.
* Help us advance and refine our web development process so that we're more efficient.
Compensation: We offer competitive salary and benefits including an employer contributed health/dental plan, a matching retirement plan, 3 weeks paid vacation, professional development opportunities, transit/bike commuter benefits and indoor bike parking. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and commensurate with experience.
You live and breathe HTML and CSS. You don’t fear PHP and don’t find jQuery querulous. You have a love/hate relationship with Drupal and maybe you’ve written a module or two. But though Drupal is your main squeeze, you can see other CMSs and frameworks. Maybe you’ve made out with WordPress, flirted with AngularJS or are making eyes at Node.js. And if you’ve been in a relationship with Convio, we’d love to talk to you. You never leave home without git, drush, Firebug, and Google Analytics in your bag. You how understand the fundamentals of how the internet works (HTTP, DNS, web servers, etc). You can make websites work on all manner of devices and screens, and truly value testing processes and tools.
Values: You are committed to NYC and to our mission. You are well spoken, but are a good listener. Writing in English inspires the same self- confidence as writing in HTML. You work equally well individually and in a team. Though you value focus, you recognize that reality means being flexible and handling multiple projects and tasks. Last but not least, you are nothing if not personable and approachable, and have a strong sense of humor.
How TO APPLY:
Please send cover letter and resume to : firstname.lastname@example.org with “Web Developer” in the subject line
No phone calls, walk-ins, or recruiters, please.
APPLICATIONS WITHOUT A COVER LETTER WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
