Veteran, energetic, high-profile NYC Council Member is seeking a personable, hard-working individual to fill a full-time Communications Director position.
Responsibilities for this position include: developing a citywide communication strategy; drafting and distributing press releases, statements and other communications; researching and pitching stories to citywide media; managing the Council Member’s social media accounts; draft bi-annual and monthly electronic newsletters; and other communication and press related work. This position will interact with the citywide media on a daily basis. In addition, this position may include some policy, administrative, community, or other duties as deemed necessary.
A successful candidate for this position must have strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, the ability to multi- task and work in a fast-paced environment, and be computer literate. New York City Residency and a BA/BS degree are required.
Prior experience in computer graphics, communications, or policy is a plus.
