Deputy Director, Teen Programs
St. Nicks Alliance seeks a full-time Deputy Director of Teen Programs for its Division of Youth and Education. The Division serves 2,500 youth and family members in collaboration with local public and charter schools, Beacon Community Centers, and Brooklyn's oldest settlement house and strategic partner, School Settlement Association.
S/he will oversee individualized teen programs that offer opportunities for personal development, school attendance and academic support, internships and work experience, post-secondary planning, and civic engagement. S/he has overall responsibility for planning, development, and supervision of all teen programs consistent with organizational mission, goals, and quality standards. S/he will report to the Division Director.
Specific responsibilities include:
Staff Supervision and Support:
Create learning community; build and sustain team culture and inter-program collaboration
Develop leadership and managerial skills of staff through comprehensive professional development: training, ongoing feedback and coaching, peer support and learning, site visits, and evaluations
Program Leadership:
With program directors, develop program goals and objectives, strategies for recruitment and retention; program structure and schedule; staffing patterns; curricula; and all other program components.
Drive program quality improvements to achieve outcomes for youth
Use financial and other resources strategically to achieve program goals; manage program budgets
Supervise data collection and prepare summary reports for purposes of performance management and funding requirements
Prepare work plans and evaluation reports for relevant grants and contracts
Partnerships:
Build/sustain collaborative relationships with partner schools and organizations
Develop new partners that support strategic and program goals
Planning:
Develop and recommend strategic direction for teen programs
Seek and develop opportunities for program growth and enhancement
Collaborate with senior staff team on strategic planning, communications, and fund-raising support
Foster program integration and collaboration leading to comprehensive, integrated services for youth
Position Requirements:
Excellent relational, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to engage staff, colleagues, and partners, and build team
Ability to think globally across program content areas and create connections
Ten to fifteen years of relevant experience including direct service, supervision, and program development
Expertise in youth development practice and content with focus on teens
Experience managing complex government contracts and/or multi-faceted projects
Master in social work, education, public administration or related field preferred
