Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation (NMIC) is seeking a Building Maintenance/Weatherization Instructor. NMIC's Workforce Development programs (WFD) prepare and train the workforce, and help employers meet their staffing needs with a pool of screened and qualified candidates. Job seekers are assisted with resume preparation, interviewing skills, job search techniques and job placement services in addition to case management and referral to other needed services such as skills training, child care, housing, mental health, etc. Employers work with designated job developers and receive individualized assistance in addressing their staffing needs. The Building Maintenance/Weatherization Instructor is responsible for researching, developing and delivering new training curriculum and daily lesson plans conducive to building solid knowledge of the energy efficiency retrofit and weatherization field among students. At the completion of the training, students will be prepared to advance to technical training programs in pursuit of becoming BPI certified professionals. Duties associated with the position include Research curricula and develop curriculum for NMIC's Building Maintenance and Energy Efficiency Retrofit/Weatherization training program. Prepare training materials and deliver daily lesson plans. Develop and administer industry-recognized skills assessment and testing tools to measure student progress. Develop job readiness training modules for green-collar workforce. Liaise with AEA training staff to ensure that curriculum is effective and conducive to advancement to AEA technical training programs.

Applicants must have prior experience in energy efficiency retrofit and weatherization field as an instructor or in related capacities. Excellent presentation and delivery skills required. Understand overall Weatherization techniques, home safety issues, and energy conservation concepts Must be a self-starter and able to work without immediate supervision Strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skill Carpentry skills, knowledge of heating systems, boilers and construction field preferred. Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred.
