Description
The Retail Action Project (RAP) is seeking a Services and Benefits Coordinator to develop, provide and promote services and benefits that meet the needs of the current and future RAP members.
RAP is a membership organization of retail workers dedicated to improving the wages and working conditions in the retail industry. RAP began as a community-labor partnership in 2005 and is now expanding into a membership organization partnered with the Retail, Wholesale, Department Store Union (RWDSU/UFCW).
RAP currently provides free employment services and referrals for legal, immigration and housing issues. The Services and Benefits Coordinator would be responsible for expanding the scope of the services and benefits offered to RAP membership.
Responsibilities:
Develop, coordinate and provide meaningful services and benefits that have an impact on retail workers lives.
Research, evaluate and propose potential partnerships with community, educational, business, healthcare or financial service entities.
Work with the RAP staff leadership to develop services and benefits partnership proposals and negotiate agreements.
Organize, coordinate and conduct skills, industry and educational trainings to members on a regular basis.
Work directly with members individually or in groups to meet employment, educational, housing, family or legal needs. Coordinate with other service providers as needed.
Work with fellow staff to promote the services and benefits to new retail workers and current members.
Coordinate with fellow staff to recruit new members, organize trainings, and to implement new programs.
Encourage member involvement with RAP committees and projects.
Develop tactics to increase member placement in targeted retail stores by increasing members strength as candidates, assessing company hiring strategies, and building relationships with store managers.
Qualifications:
Experience providing service and benefits in a membership organization.
Experience developing new programs and partnerships.
Ability to design, develop and implement short and long term goals for membership benefits and services.
Ability to interpret, analyze and comprehend benefit documents.
Familiarity with the healthcare and/or financial services industry is desired.
Strong writing & communication skills.
Ability to bridge service provision with member recruitment and organizing.
Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice.
Willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed.
