Description
The American Technion Society, the New York City-based national fundraising organization for the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, seeks an Assistant and Writer for its Development Department. The Development Department is the liaison between the university and fundraising staff in regional offices around the country.
The Assistant and Writer will edit proposals and executive summaries for major donors and draft project descriptions for the organization's intranet. Subject matter is largely of a scientific/technical nature, but also includes capital projects and student programs. The position entails rewriting/editing of materials developed by the university, as well as creating original content. Responsibilities also include working on projects related to the board of directors and national committees, and special projects as needed.
Requires three years of writing and copyediting experience. Must be a versatile writer with an excellent command of grammar and usage and strong proofreading skills. B.A. in English or communications a plus. Experience in developing internal communications for a nonprofit organization or for-profit company helpful. Knowledge of desktop publishing preferred as the position involves laying out proposals and other presentation materials. Individual must be a self-starter capable of working as part of a team and independently. Reports to the Assistant Director of Development.
