ESPERANZA
Description
Esperanza addresses the need to reduce New York City's reliance on institutional placements for youth in the delinquency system by providing direct services to youth and families and by engaging in structural reform efforts. Esperanza analysts look at existing practice and data in order to identify and help implement structural reforms and create and support options other than institutional placement. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in learning about public policy and program evaluation, especially in the area of juvenile justice.
Responsibilities:
•Collaborating with the Esperanza analysis team and Probation staff on the collection and tracking of juvenile justice data
•Monitoring and analyzing the utilization of an assessment tool used by Probation staff in the investigation and recommendation phase of juvenile delinquency proceedings
•Analyzing and presenting juvenile justice trends through the creation of internal reports as well as tables and graphs for various government partners
Qualifications:
•A Master's Degree in public policy, criminal justice, sociology, psychology or a related discipline or a Bachelor's Degree with significant relevant experience
•Significant experience and skill managing databases and spreadsheets and conducting statistical analyses using SPSS is mandatory
•Significant attention to detail and quality control
