Description
The Chief Financial Officer directs GMHC's financial planning, budget development and monitoring, accounting operations and government and private grants administration strategies in support of goals and objectives established by the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As a member of the executive team and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer plays a key role in leading and supporting the agency's strategic planning, organization development, fiscal compliance and staff development. The Chief Financial Officer works in tandem with the Board treasurer and is principle staff participant on the Audit and Finance committee. Specific fiscal management, compliance and investment functions include oversight of treasury, budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, grant administration, real estate, long range forecasting and risk management activities, continual appraisal of the agency's financial position and issuance of timely reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) to the Board of Directors, CEO , COO and Senior Management, ensuring organization compliance with all regulatory tax filing and audit requirements, directing the preparation of agency short-term and long-range financial plans and budgets based on broad organization goals and objectives, and oversight of adherence to fiscal policies and procedures (internal controls). Additionally, the CFO will assist the CEO in implementing the agency mission and philosophy applicable to financial service goals, strengthen staff association to the agency's mission and core values, partners with Chief Operating Officer in development of agency policy and procedures, and recommends business partnering and other strategic opportunities. Masters of Business Administration, CPA, or equivalent is required. Significant proven experience as a nonprofit financial manager/leader, including strong experience managing government contracts, strong working knowledge of the health care or social services sector and a working knowledge of managed care and strong experience using technology to improve financial management systems are essential. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead, develop and mentor staff during organizational development and transitions, excellent written and oral communication skills, and comfort working directly with Board of Directors and Finance Committees. Capital campaign experience and MIP accounting software experience are plusses.
