Founded in 2004, the East River Development Alliance (ERDA) is an innovative nonprofit organization located in Long Island City, Queens (fifteen minutes from Midtown Manhattan) working to transform and improve New York City public housing neighborhoods by providing residents with the tools and opportunities necessary for self-sufficiency and economic mobility.
ERDA's Workforce Development Program aims to create opportunities for public housing residents to work in jobs that pay a living wage and are connected to meaningful career paths. Clients are provided with on-going case management and support from job search to employment retention.
The Workforce Development program currently seeks a 6th team member to provide technical assistance in the maintenance and upgrade of the program's main database ETO (Efforts to Outcomes). The Program Administrator would report to the Workforce Development Program Director. The ideal candidate should enjoy working independently with data and databases. The Administrator would also have the opportunity to interact with participants and would participate in other projects to ensure full integration of the Workforce Development Team.
Duties Include:
- Maintain database for workforce development program: includes creating assessments, efforts, reports and queries in ETO for program enhancement.
- Conduct monthly audit of database and client files in conjunction with Program Director. Participate in the development of curriculum for participants on job search techniques (i..e job searching via the internet).
- Lead mini workshops for participants when appropriate.
- Interact with workforce development participants in ERDA's computer lab, providing technical assistance and useful tips regarding online applications, and basic computer knowledge needed to look for work via the web.
- Perform administrative tasks including data entry, phone banking, and filing when necessary.
Requirements:
- Substantial knowledge and prior use customizing and/or using ETO database or similar database (1 - 3 years experience)
- Attention to detail and ease with learning new databases and computer applications a must and interest in data collection.
- Interest in and ability to assist participants with limited skill sets in job search using a computer lab setting.
Both data driven and customer service approaches are necessary for this role.
Interest in workforce development issues and commitment to social justice.
Bachelors Degree in related field required.
Bilingual candidates preferred.
