Faith and Community Relations Associate
Habitat for Humanity - NYC
The Faith and Community Relations Associate will help strengthen and maintain partnerships with congregations, clergy leaders and community groups. This position is also responsible for ensuring that our policy platform and advocacy initiatives are being successfully integrated into our faith and community relationships. This position is a Monday through Friday position and includes frequent weekends and evenings.
Involve and engage NYC faith community and community based organizations in Habitat’s mission through volunteering, fundraising and advocacy Manage and schedule weekly faith volunteers in conjunction with volunteer department Organize annual special volunteer and advocacy events (including the faith-rooted advocacy training program School for Faith, Action, and Impact) Conduct community outreach and maintain community relations in preparation for new homeownership opportunities and Habitat’s anti-predatory lending “Loan Rangers” campaign Coordinate faith leader involvement in Habitat's various activities Public speaking and presentations representing Habitat for Humanity - New York City Involvement with faith and affordable housing coalitions in NYC
Master’s degree preferred with a minimum of two years experience working with faith communities and managing faith relationships Highly motivated and independent worker Collaborative/coalition experience Excellent people and communication skills Strong project management and multi-tasking skills Knowledge of housing, poverty, and social justice issues and policy a plus
