Position Overview: The Account Manager provides business development and marketing services to assist existing businesses and generates new business for NYC Business Solutions Industrial Business Zone. These businesses are small to mid-sized employers in the areas of manufacturing, wholesale, construction, transportation, utilities and waste management. They are in need of full suite of business services including financing, recruitment, permits and licensing, incentives, and training. The Account Manager brings his/her experience in previously working in one of these sectors and provides direct small business assistance, familiarity with government based incentives, as well as sales and credit analysis.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities: Marketing and Sales: • Markets the NYC Business Solutions and its services to new and existing business customers through direct business outreach activities; • Leverages partners as referral sources for customers; • Acquires a sufficient volume of new customers with a need for NYC Business Solutions services to ensure the center’s quarterly and annual goals can be achieved; and • Measures the success of targeted sales strategies on an ongoing basis and adjust course as needed.
Programming: • Serves as the service coordinator/generalist to achieve NYC Business Solutions’ programming targets, especially in the areas of financing and recruitment; • Develops and maintains expertise in sector based initiatives; and • Builds partnerships with local organizations and resource providers to implement special sector and/or neighborhood initiatives.
Work Management: • Creates and maintains complete records of customer accounts, including detailed content on sales and service delivery activities; • Responds to all customer inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner, in accordance with quality assurance best practices and center standards; • Attends trainings and working sessions as provided by NYC Business Solutions; and • Provides feedback to team members and SBS on an ongoing basis in order to improve the system’s ability to achieve outcomes and provide high-quality services.
Qualifications:
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business; • Must possess previous professional experience in the areas of manufacturing, wholesale, construction, transportation, utilities and waste management; • A minimum of one (1) years of working experience in business development is required; • Strong customer service or sales related experience is preferred; • Experience working with small businesses, community-based organizations, community groups and/or government programs a plus; • Must have financing related knowledge such as loan packaging and referral; • Must possess a working knowledge of New York City’s small business needs, especially in industrial/manufacturing business development; • A proven track record in acquiring and retaining business customers is a must; • A demonstrate knowledge of small business assistance and incentives program in NYC a plus; • Experience using customer relationship management tools or other database systems in order to track and manage services and outcomes is highly desirable; • The ability to work effectively under pressure in both a team and individual setting is required; • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills are key; and • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a diverse array of internal and external stakeholders.
