Overview of the Position The SoBRO Education and Career Development (ECD) Center offers cutting-edge adult and youth programs, which focus on education, literacy, career exploration, and leadership development. In addition, ECD offers extensive work readiness training and job placement services for adults.
Our mission is to engage youth and adults in quality educational, leadership, career exploration and employment programs that meet the demands of today's skilled-based workforce in order for families to achieve economic independence.
SoBRO is seeking a skilled Job Developer to develop employment opportunities for our participants.
Position Description & Responsibilities
*Utilize innovative job development techniques to develop and manage relationships with employers.
*Develop, maintain and expand job bank.
*Work in collaboration with Employment Specialists, Case Managers to share best practices and resources.
*Assist participants in assessing their career goals and skills, then provide them with suitable job leads
*Develop and maintain working relationships with participants through the job search and employment process.
*Visit and assess work sites and placement opportunities.
*Prepare and maintain written documentation on weekly basis of job development and placement activities.
*Attend all appropriate meetings.
*Occasional evening hours may be required.
*Performs other job related tasks as directed by supervisor.
Requirements
*Bachelors Degree and two years of satisfactory related work experience with diverse populations in low-income neighborhoods or four years of satisfactory full-time paid experience in one of the following areas: sales, personnel/human resources, marketing, human services, advertising or other related fields.
*Excellent writing skills with a command of proper grammar.
*Strong time management skills.
*Strong inter-personal, communication and presentation skills.
*Experience developing and managing strategic partnerships.
*Entrepreneurial and creative problem solver.
*Ability to work effectively and under pressure.
*Knowledge of the NYC job market and employment opportunities required.
*Bi-lingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
Job Details:
*Location: Office is accessible - just one quarter block from the #2 and #5 subway trains in the heart of the South Bronx's commercial district.
*Salary: $34,000-38,000 Annually
