Housing Coordinator

Description
The Housing Coordinator is responsible for, rent collection, creating and maintaining tenant files, and obtaining and maintaining all required supporting documentation for rental subsidy agencies, and syndicator requirements, if necessary. The Housing Coordinator reports directly to the Program Director and interfaces with the onsite supportive service and building management staffs. The Housing Coordinator is a key member of the Tenant Services team. This is an exempt position.
Responsibilities:
•Coordinate and collect tenant’s monthly rent payment;
•Perform all housing intake tasks; •Maintain accurate tenant rent files and records;
•Contact referral source or tenant for initial interview, and ensure the completion of all required documents for housing eligibility;
•Prepare all required reports, applications and certifications in a timely and accurate manner;
•Conduct periodic apartment inspections to ensure apartments are clean and properly maintained; •Enter apartment inspections, incident reports, submitted Court cases and notifications from NYCHA, HPD regarding apartment inspections into AWARDS case management system;
•Participate in case conferences with government funders when necessary;
•Establish and maintain Community relations with external agencies for tenant referrals;
•Generate a master list of housing referral community resources; •Attend staff meetings, community meetings with tenants, individual supervision meetings and monthly Housing Coordinator group meetings and other meetings/trainings as required;
•Support tenants in making necessary appointments with community resources;
•Review all incident reports involving non-compliance with building regulations and house rules, and
•Perform other job-related functions, as assigned
Qualifications:
•Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field. •Minimum of 2 years experience providing direct service to one or more of the following populations: persons living with AIDS /HIV, formerly and chronically homeless persons and families, young adults aged out of foster care, persons with mental illness, or persons in recovery from addiction. •Proficiency in Excel, including previous experience and familiarity with formulas to generate monthly reports.
