Early Childhood Educator

Location: 1309 Louis Niñé Blvd. Bronx, New York 10459 Reports to: Director of Home-based Childcare Services
WHEDco's Home-based Child Care Program works to ensure that affiliated and potential childcare providers are successful in building critical early childhood skills and establishing successful home-based childcare businesses that provide opportunities for early learning. The Early Childhood Educator will provide group training, support and technical assistance to provider participants. Responsible for delivering research based curricula, developing training components that support continued growth and provider development, providing support and conducting home visits for service planning and support services, staff development workshops specific to curriculum implementation and program evaluation. The ECE is also required to track outcomes, meet program and organizational goals and provide support for program integration.
Apply research based curricula in provider homes enrolled in WHEDco’s network, including those enrolled in WHEDco’s EarlyLearn NYC initiative Work with home-based providers to the implement the Creative Curriculum Utilize appropriate assessment tools for evaluation and program planning Evaluate program outcomes and create additional program support based on the needs of the providers Facilitate program integration utilizing WHEDco’ Family Support Services, CACFP and other resources Work with child care trainers to improve their skills and knowledge Work with trainers to enhance the curricula used with EL providers and non-EarlyLearn licensed providers Provide additional staff development as needed for trainers and home visiting teams
Masters-level degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Bilingual (Spanish/English) desirable Demonstrated familiarity with early childhood education and child development group facilitation Excellent organizational ability and outstanding attention to detail Creative problem-solving skills Ability and willingness to interact with a diverse group of people and establish positive and healthy working relationships Passion for WHEDco’s mission
