Clinton Global Initiative
Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes global leaders to create and implement innovative solutions to the world's most pressing challenges. CGI Annual Meetings have brought together more than 150 heads of state, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, and hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media. Building on the successful model of the CGI Annual Meeting in New York, President Clinton is expanding the membership and impact of CGI by convening a series of meetings in different regions of the world. In 2013, CGI International will convene in Brazil for two days of panel discussions and interactive working sessions. President Clinton will join Latin American leaders from a wide variety of backgrounds to explore the strengthening cultures of social and global responsibility in Latin America and the benefits that can be accrued through collaboration. The CGI International Program Manager has the primary responsibility of generating content for plenary sessions, including issues addressed and speakers selected. In addition, s/he will oversee a content creation team of three to four consultants who will develop issue-specific breakout sessions in the areas of: Education, the Environment and Climate Change, and Public Health. S/he will work closely with CGI's Director of Program, content team, as well as other departments at CGI, external advisors, and President Clinton's office to assist with the conceptualization and implementation of the agenda, content, and format for the CGI International meeting in Brazil. The CGI Program Department is seeking an individual who excels in three specific areas:
Stays up-to-date on current regional issues, along with corporate interests, sustainability and development activities, and trends in Latin America Enjoys thinking of new and different ways to present compelling issues, speakers, and topics that further the CGI mission of turning good ideas into action Represents CGI International externally, particularly to consult an engaged group of external advisors and to assist with potential participant recruitment efforts Note: The duration of this position is October 2012 to December 2013.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred Work and/or living experience in Latin America Minimum of five years’ experience with general project management Strong knowledge of key regional challenges, corporate interests, and sustainability and development activities in Latin America, including implementation of social and/or environmental programs in the business, nonprofit, and public sectors Strong oral and written communication skills Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish
Proactive and forward thinking, demonstrated creative vision Teamwork skills that support larger organizational goals and actively contribute to team objectives Demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively in complex, diverse settings with individuals of varying backgrounds and stature Solid relationship management skills Comfortable coordinating numerous time-sensitive projects, able to develop and abide by clear goals, timelines, and priorities Willingness to work in an “all hands on deck” environment, and engage in a variety of tasks Event planning experience
