Lantern Community Services
Lantern Community Services ("LCS") is the social service affiliate of Lantern Organization, a not-for-profit housing developer and service provider, established in 1997 to strengthen New York City communities by providing affordable housing and opportunities for personal development. LCS provides services to residents living in more than 1000 units of permanent affordable and supportive housing for low-income families and individuals living with special needs including mental illness, HIV/AIDS, as well as young adults aging out of foster care.
Location: the Bronx
The Program Director is responsible for the administration, management and direction of permanent supportive housing and services for low-income, formerly homeless and disabled individuals and families. The Program Director ensures that all tenants receive the highest level of supportive services care consistent with their individual needs and the program mission. The Program Director reports to the Clinical Director. This position is exempt.
•Hire, train and supervise the Tenant Services team
•Ensure that all required reporting and documentation for program and tenants are appropriately recorded and submitted on a timely basis
•Maintain program files in compliance with any external contract requirements
•Conduct one on one meetings with all staff on a consistent basis as it relates to staff development and training
•Provide supervision to student interns
•Manage all administrative systems of the building
•Develop linkages with community organizations that will support the work of the program
•Work in collaboration with property management staff to ensure that apartment conditions meet quality maintenance and cleanliness standards
•Ensure that all prospective tenants are properly screened
•Provide task supervision and support to Employment Specialist as needed
•Review and sign off on services plans and progress notes
•Provide case management support to staff as needed
•Actively engage in training that promotes the Program Director's professional development
•Assess the severity of incidents and incident reports written by security and make sure that the appropriate interventions have been implemented
•Provide monthly written reports to Senior Management
The Program Director will have extensive knowledge of HIV/AIDS, mental health, ACS and family issues, substance abuse and at least three to five years of progressive experience in implementing direct service programs and supervising direct service staff, Social Work Students and interns.
Candidates being considered for the position must sign a release form for LCS to perform a criminal background check.
This position requires a Master's degree in Social Work or a related field.
