Program Analyst
ESPERANZA
Description
Esperanza addresses the need to reduce New York City's reliance on incarceration for youth involved in the justice system by providing direct services to youth and families and by engaging in structural reform efforts. Esperanza analysts look at existing practice and data in order to identify and help implement structural reforms, and to create and support options other than incarceration. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in learning about public policy and program evaluation, especially in the area of juvenile justice.
Responsibilities:
The Program Analyst’s responsibilities include:
•Create and monitor multiple large databases; write syntax and formulas, perform queries and data exports for analysis;
•Analyze and present juvenile justice trends through the creation of internal and external reports, as well as tables and graphs for various government partners;
•Collaborating with Esperanza administrators and New York City Department of Probation staff on the collection and tracking of juvenile justice data;
•Track, analyze and report on several different processes utilized by the Department of Probation, including Violations of Probation;
•Input and clean data as necessary, and supervise additional data entry personnel as needed.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
•A Master’s Degree in public policy, criminal justice, sociology, psychology or a related discipline required
•Significant experience and skill managing databases and spreadsheets and conducting statistical analyses using SPSS is mandatory;
•Significant attention to detail and quality control.
