Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC
Description
This internship will focus on supporting the fundraising and events efforts for Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City. This department works together with to build long-term partnerships with the corporate community while executing eight annual special events, which generate 50% of the agency's income. This is a dynamic and exciting learning opportunity for students to gain exposure to Fortune 500 companies while helping plan unique, high-dollar events. This intern will work closely with and report to the Corporate Sponsorship Manager, supporting the department's efforts in the following areas:
Researching corporate funders, providing briefs on corporations' giving trends
Updating database of key contacts, prospect profiles, reports, action items, and gifts
Assisting with execution of logistics for special events
Assisting in stewardship of corporate donors using e-mail marketing and other methods
Other duties as assigned
This is a part-time, unpaid opportunity where the student must be able to work approximately 15 hours per week, including occasional early mornings, nights or weekends. Interns may make arrangements with their schools to gain academic credit for this internship and Big Brothers Big Sisters will support student in obtaining the necessary paperwork for this process.
Qualifications:
Currently a junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate student studying public relations, communications, marketing, business or related field.
•Independent, self-starter, detail oriented and critical thinking skills a must
•Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with various deadlines
•Ability to maintain confidentiality with professional work ethic and demeanor
•Proficient in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs
•Experience in using Constant Contact, Raiser’s Edge and Convio programs a plus but not required
