Project Manager - Affordable Housing Developer
Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation
The Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC), a dynamic, non-profit, holistic, community development organization serving the Cypress Hills/East New York neighborhood in northeast Brooklyn, seeks a real estate development professional, passionate about green affordable housing and economic development to work with both development and asset management of the CHLDC housing portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a team of professionals dedicated to planning and building affordable housing that serves the specific needs of our community.
The Project Manager will report to the Director of Community Development and will work closely with the other Community Development team members to:
Manage all aspects of the predevelopment process; Collaborate with funders, architects, attorneys, environmental consultants, representatives of public agencies and contractors Draft, revise, and regularly update development and operating budgets for affordable housing and economic development projects Oversee design and construction process with architects, consultants and contractors; Handle ongoing monitoring, requisition and compliance of projects under construction; Identify new community development opportunities, conduct feasibility analyses (including financial analyses) and prepare applications for funding; Manage third-party property management company; work with property manager to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, achievement of energy efficiency standards, and excellent tenant relations; Participate in leading the evaluation, planning and execution of asset management strategies for the CHLDC housing portfolio in concert with the third party property manager; Participate in cross-departmental projects.
Advanced degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Real Estate or Finance preferred; Three to five years professional work experience, including project and/or construction management, housing and community development; At least 2 years experience working as a developer of real estate, preferably affordable housing development; Experience with and knowledge of real estate finance; Solid knowledge of the construction process; Familiarity with green building methods and materials important; Property and asset management experience; Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and computer skills; Commitment to affordable housing, community building and professional development; Self-starter willing to work as part of a team and participate in envisioning innovative community development initiatives; Demonstrates commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change; Spanish-speaking a plus.
