The Director of Housing Development will oversee WHEDco's mixed-use development portfolio.

Responsibilities:
The Director of Housing Development will manage the following ongoing projects:

•Oversee the capital investment of WHEDco’s buildings. Close out the residential retrofit and remaining capital work at Urban Horizons; investigate a commercial retrofit of Urban Horizons; oversee the Year 15 process of Urban Horizons.

•Manage the Bronx Commons development, a multi-use building expected to close in FY 2014. Work with partners to reach ULURP certification; oversee charter school development; liaise with co-developer and architect on residential development.

•Oversee WHEDco’s sustainability and green building efforts. Supervise the Intervale Green rooftop farm, active living design building integration, building benchmarking and tenant green teams.

•Property Management. Provide support to Executive Team for tenant relations and establishing building protocols; assist in transition of property management team.

•Support special events, presentations, and workshops related to WHEDco’s work, as needed.

Qualifications:

•Master’s degree or comparable experience in urban planning, public administration, business, real estate development/finance, or community development.
•3 years project management experience on complex projects and supervisory experience.
•Familiarity with affordable housing development in New York City, including local/state agencies and private sector entities.
•Familiarity with principles of green building and energy efficiency.
•Commitment to the issues facing low-income families.
•Excellent communication writing and presentation skills.
•Organized, enthusiastic and entrepreneurial.
•Sense of humor and perspective.
