Location: 50 East 168th Street, Bronx NY Reports to: Assistant Director of Community Development

WHEDco seeks a motivated Community Development Intern to assist with community economic development in the South Bronx.

Responsibilities:
1)Support projects to revitalize the neighborhoods around our green buildings: commercial revitalization, entrepreneurship, health and ‘greening’, and/or the Arts. 2)Assist with marketing via website updates, marketing materials, and mailings/e-blasts to promote area initiatives to businesses, shoppers, brokers, industry and community contacts. 3)Help perform business and land use surveying and community outreach, including distributing flyers, supporting merchant meetings, conducting site visits, and advocating for area improvements (transportation, food access, community safety).

Qualifications:
This internship is ideal for someone who is passionate about community and economic development, takes initiative and works efficiently.
•Bachelor’s degree or graduate studies preferred in City Planning, Business or Real Estate a plus
•Knowledge of or interest in community economic development, entrepreneurship, and the Arts
•Comfortable working independently in the field and engaging diverse contacts. About 60% of the intern’s time will be in the field.
•Excellent team-player and creative thinker with strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. A sense of humor is welcomed.
•Skilled in MS Office. Bilingual ability in Spanish is highly desirable
•Experience with graphic design, mail merge, database or social media/website updates

Stipend: Internship pays $12.50/hr with 15 hours required per week. Some evening availability desired.
